The Hercle table wins the Archiproducts Sustainability Award. To win over the jury was the innovative Corkcrete finish, a groundbreaking development in the field of furniture design.

A new significant recognition for Opinion Ciatti: an award that goes beyond a single product to celebrate a project and a philosophy of design that the company pursues with passion and determination.

The Hercle table, designed by Lapo Ciatti, was honored with the Archiproducts Sustainability Award during the gala evening held on Thursday, November 14, at the Superstudio Più venue in Milan. This award, which has been selecting products for several years now, recognizes those that adhere to the principles of sustainable design through the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials, production techniques, and minimal environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.

Particularly capturing the attention of the jury, composed of a panel of experts, was the Corkcrete finish, an innovative material made of cork and natural compounds, presented at the 2024 Salone del Mobile. Its unprecedented application in furniture design is credited to the ingenuity of Lapo Ciatti and his team.

This remarkable composite, typically used in construction due to its exceptional properties, is not only featured in Hercle but also in other family icons such as ILtavolo 2.0, LAlampada, and the Oodh mirror (all designed by Lapo Ciatti), as well as the Mammamia chair by Marcello Ziliani.

«I am truly thrilled about this recognition – commented Lapo Ciatti shortly after the victory – because it is the result of a journey that we at Opinion Ciatti have been on for some time. Sustainability is one of our core values, and every day we strive to ensure that the pieces we create not only furnish spaces but do so with respect for our planet.

The Hercle table is a perfect example of this: our goal was to create a piece that would be both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use while respecting the environment. Corkcrete provided the answer—an absolute innovation in terms of materials for the furniture sector. It’s a 100% green composite that combines the lightness and flexibility of cork with the bonding properties of traditional mortar. All this, along with a textured appearance, a soft feel to the touch, and excellent thermal insulation, positively impacts comfort and usability.

Thank you to the jury and Archiproducts: this award gives us further momentum to keep investing in research and innovation, reinforcing our commitment to a more circular furniture system that meets the challenges and needs of the third millennium. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to our team, our partners, and our clients who believe in our vision. This award is dedicated to all of you.»

The award for Hercle marks the fifth Archiproducts Award for Opinion Ciatti in four years, following wins for Pepe in 2021, Berberé and ILtavolo 2.0 (with a special sustainability mention for its cocciopesto finish) in 2022, and Mammamia Raw in 2023.
