Herclino Lapo Ciatti / 2024

Herclino, the coffee table series, part of the Hercle collection designed by Lapo Ciatti, was created with the intention of combining, in an object of everyday use, the timeless charm of ancient Greece with avant-garde materials, the result of Opinion Ciatti's attention to sustainability issues.

On the one hand, their shape mimics that of a typical fluted column, while on the other hand, the special cork finish that covers them is evidence of the commitment to environmental protection.

A symbol in classical architecture of stability, power, order and harmony, the column is also closely linked to the myth of Heracles, the demigod son of Zeus celebrated for his strength, courage and determination. In one of his '12 labours', when he reached the slopes of the mountains that marked the boundary of the then known Earth, he erected two columns to indicate to mortals the limit beyond which they should not go. In another, he replaces Atlas, shouldering the incredible weight of the world, just as a column supports the lintel above.

With the Hercle collection - the Etruscan variant of Heracles chosen to honour Opinion Ciatti's Tuscan roots - the myths and symbols of Greek columns are revived in a functional key: the aluminium structure reflects the strength and durability of ancient columns, its design evokes the elegance and harmony of classical architecture.

An example of imperishable beauty, Hercle is also an expression of the research and innovation that characterise the work of the Ciatti household. In fact, the Herclino coffee tables and Hercle tables that make up the collection, express their uniqueness thanks to the Corkcrete finish, the special ecological mortar made of cork and water-based natural resins, also suitable for outdoor spaces and available in the three colors beige, gray or dove grey. The Herclino coffee tables are also available with gold leaf finish, a precious covering that is a symbol of Tuscan craftsmanship. Available in three sizes, they open up to different uses: as a pocket emptier at the entrance, as a shelf in the living room or garden, or as a convenient support for plants or lamps, inside and outside the home.
